SERVICES & FEES

Legal support pricedwith clarity

JKR Solicitors provide consultation, advisory work, application preparation, advocacy and court work across immigration, asylum, human rights, family, employment and litigation.

HOW FEES WORK

Simple structures forevery matter

We explain costs at your first meeting — so you know what to expect before we begin.

Hourly rates

For litigation, employment and family matters we normally charge hourly rates. London follows Law Society London grade 3; Birmingham follows National grade 1.

Fixed fees

Immigration matters use a minimum–maximum fixed fee based on complexity. One-off family or employment work may also be available on a fixed fee — ask the office.

Legal Aid

Both London and Birmingham offices hold Legal Aid contracts for immigration and asylum. Cover may include initial applications and appeals where you qualify.

LEGAL AID

JKR has Legal Aid contracts in immigration and asylum for both offices. We also sit on detention centre duty rotas and hold surgeries for immigration detainees.

Legal Aid typically covers

Asylum
Domestic Violence
Human Trafficking
Minors’ immigration matters
  1. 01

In some human rights matters, Legal Aid may be available in exceptional circumstances — please enquire with the office.

  2. 02

Initial applications are subject to a means test. If you receive public funds, NASS or asylum support, you automatically satisfy the means test.

  3. 03

If working, you may qualify where cash savings are under £3,000 and monthly disposable income is under £753. Bring payslips, bank statements or other proof of income and savings.

  4. 04

If not employed, bring a supporting letter with photo ID of the person financially supporting you. Their means are not assessed — only that you receive support.

  5. 05

Appeals require both a means test and a merits test (prospects of success).
